How does it work?
A camera captures your image while you sit in front of the machine. You use The Human Race Machine morphing program to apply the changes you would like to see.

How long do we have the machine?  
The machine is available to lease or purchase. The usual lease arrangement allows you to have the machine for a full week, actually more like 9 or 10 days (we like you to have plenty of time to receive and set up the machine, and ship out after using it). Wolfman Productions fully coordinates shipping and receiving.

How does it arrive?
The Human Race Machine arrives in a custom-made case via ground freight. The case is set on wheels and weighs about 650 lbs (including the machine). The dimensions of the case are 80 inches high, 62 inches deep, and 38 inches wide. The machine is approximately 67 inches high, 52 inches deep, and 32 inches wide.

Is it easy to set up?
The machine is simple to set up. Detailed instructions are included. Total setup time is less than 15 minutes.

Is there value in seeing yourself as a different race?
This is an interesting question indeed. The answer is “yes”. There IS value in seeing yourself as a different race. The “why” is a much harder question to answer, very subjective in nature and open to individual interpretation. And, individual users bring different and varying degrees of life experience to the table when they use the Human Race Machine, thereby creating an array of reactions during and after the machine’s use.

Over 150,000 throughout the world have used The Human Race Machine since it was first invented in 2000. Of the hundreds of people who have reported to us their reactions to the machine, the responses overwhelmingly indicate a positive, unique and thought-provoking experience, unlike any other.

The Human Race Machine is wholly unique. Nothing else like it exists. Beyond the curiosity, the uniqueness of the experience and the fun that it brings to users, the machine imparts messages that are entirely supported within any organization’s mission to promote diversity.

Human Race Machine users typically see their own faces in the face that is staring back at them on the monitor. But these faces are not really them.

This experience can alter perceptions and open up the door to a bigger, deeper conversation on race and diversity.

How can the Human Race Machine benefit our organization?
Many groups have been using the Human Race Machine as a stand-alone program, while others use it as a tool to facilitate a broader, more meaningful dialogue on race and diversity issues, by supplementing workshops and speakers, also available through our company.

Everyone booking the Human Race Machine Machine receives promotional posters, a DVD copy of the complete PBS series "Race -- The Power of an Illusion" and handouts to reproduce and distribute, including "10 Things Everyone Should Know About Race" and "The Race Literacy Quiz."
